Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

November 24, 2011 in Holidays by Avatar

Happy Thanksgiving from Vybee.com

—————————–

It’s been an awesome year for us at Vybee.com, and on it’s way, this project is becoming quite a fam working towards a greater vision.

Vybee.com moves with a mission to build a more focused place to share and discuss what’s going on locally and connect within our local communities.

The thing to know about this project is, it’s not about the technology or just building some shiny new thing.

It is very much about bringing together the best ways to engage locally and foster local connections.

As we continue to refine and evolve, this purpose and the community that’s been coming together is really what sets this project apart.

During our participation with the Startup Stampede we met so many new people. With us now, it’s all about continuing to build lasting relations.

And we have such great family and friends working with us to build this greater vision.

Some exciting plans are underway for savvy campaigns with local businesses, partnerships with local media and publishers, and the release of our mobile app.

With that, I have to give some big shout outs and thanks to the people that have been great participators and advocates with Vybee.com.

Big thanks to Adam Klein and Matthew Coppedge from the Durham Chamber and Downtown Durham Inc. + the Startup Stampede mentors and participants.

Mad props to Harvey Singh and our dedicated development team at Instancy.com.

Major shout outs to our local collaborators and evangelists that have been helping us with key elements.

And thanks to our super-cool members continuing to participate, invite good friends, and get the word out about this awesome local network coming together in the Triangle, NC.

Final Stretch of Startup Stampede…

November 11, 2011 in Latest & Greatest by Avatar

Startup StampedeWe’re on the final stretch of the Startup Stampede incubator program in Durham, NC. And oh, what a great experience it has been.

We’re busily preparing for our presentation at the Stampede graduation ceremony Wednesday November 16th.

.
So we’re polishing up Vybee.com, polishing up our pitch… and our shoes.

And who knows maybe even revealing a sneak peak of our mobile app coming out soon.

Headed up by the Durham Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Durham Inc, the Stampede has been an excellent experience for us to meet local talent and start-up success stories such as Chris Heivly of Mapquest and Triangle Tech Talk, Aaron Houghton of iContact and Eden, Taylor and Joel from Shoeboxed, and so many more.

Adam Klein from the Durham Chamber and Matthew Coppedge from Downtown Durham Inc. have been such great ringleaders in guiding us away from the desk and face to face with others that can help us grow our business.

We grew to love Durham even more in the short time we’ve been here and the possibility of setting up shop in Durham sounds very lucrative mainly because we felt an encouragement that’s hard to find.

We look forward to continuing with the great connections we’ve made as we’re really just getting started to take this project to the next level.

Our final presentation for Startup Stampede will be Wednesday November 16th at 5:00pm in Rigsbee Hall, downtown Durham, NC.

If you’d like to attend this private function and hear some of the latest innovations coming out of the area, let me know and I’ll do my best to work out an invite.

September 9, 2011 in New Features by Vybee

Media Sharing has arrived on Vybee.com.

It has been one of the most requested features of our crew and members.

Now you have an even easier way to share media along with your local updates and reports
right from your home page, group pages, and friend’s pages.

Reach your local interest communities on Vybee.com
+ Facebook & Twitter networks all from one place.

Here’s how it works…

Once you’ve logged in, visit your home page
(the ‘Home’ tab in the top header) to access the update box.

And follow the quick steps detailed below…

1) Type in your update or an intro to the media you’d like to share.

2) Select a group you’ve joined where you’d like to send your post.

(You can join groups from the ‘Groups‘ tab in the header by viewing ‘All Groups‘.)

3) Select options to post to your Facebook and Twitter networks.

* If you haven’t done so already, click ‘Post to Facebook’ and ‘Post to Twitter’
to set up your accounts. We will remember your settings from there.

4) Click the media icons to post media.

- Click the camera to upload images
(you’ll be able to select one or even multiple files to upload at one time).

Or share image urls (make sure image urls end with .jpeg, .gif, or .png).

- Click the film strip to share video links from YouTube, Vimeo, and more.

- Click the link to share links from websites, blogs, etc.

5) Click the ‘Preview’ button to see a preview of your media.

6) Click the ‘Post Update’ button and you’re done!

- allow a few seconds for the media to post to your page.

It’s official, Vybee.com is participating in this year’s Durham Startup Stampede!

This means we now have a furnished office space in the heart of downtown Durham along with a network of other entrepreneurs and a whole host of expert assistance and opportunities from founders of successful Durham startups.

And it means we’ll be hustling to create and launch our kick-a$s mobile platform for local engagement by the end of the year.

The program kick starts Tuesday September 13th with a presentation event for over 100 community leaders, elected officials, and press.
